AI can't replace skilled trades: apply your growth skills to boring businesses
boringmarketer · x · 2026-10-15
boringmarketer argues that if software is dead, the move is to own or help a boring skilled-trades business with your AI knowledge. He lists 14 categories: garage door repair, garage restoration and floor refinishing, drywall, artificial turf, composite decks, fencing, decorative concrete, asphalt, emergency water/fire/mold remediation, wallpaper, generators, saunas and cold plunges, home gyms, and commercial kitchen hood cleaning.
His thesis: AI won't replace these trades, but the owners are often local millionaires — and beating them at lead gen, SEO/PPC, social presence, and simply calling leads back on time is a wide-open opportunity for indie operators.
