The latest Ramp AI Index shows AI spending stuttering in September: the top 1% of business spenders spent $9,568 per employee per month, down 3.1% from the July high of $9,873, while the median firm spent just $16.
Stanford HAI's Rishi Bommasani weighs in: elite universities are top 1% (or at least top 10%) organizations, and while not spending $10k–100k per researcher per year in tokens may be fine, he worries universities invest at rates comparable to the median firm—when they should do vastly more.
