Socratic Prompting: Use It for Strategy, Not Simple Factual Queries
bigaiguy · x · 2026-10-13
The author outlines when Socratic prompting is worth it: skip it for simple factual queries, data formatting, basic code generation and quick rewrites; use it for strategic thinking, nuanced analysis, creative problem-solving and multi-step reasoning.
The technique is to stack questions to program the AI's thinking process, e.g.: "What would a top growth marketer ask before building a funnel? What data would they need? What assumptions would they validate first? Now answer those questions for my SaaS product, then design the funnel."
