Cursor founders rejected by top VC in 2023, left a note saying it was the biggest opportunity of the century

Anysphere (Cursor) co-founder Brendan Foody recounts how a top Silicon Valley VC declined to even meet them in summer 2023, saying the category wasn't of interest. Foody drove to their Sand Hill Road office and left a note: "I think you couldn't be more wrong. This is the largest opportunity of the 21st century." No response ever came. With cofounders still enrolled and torn over dropping out unfunded, they took the leap and built what he calls the fastest-growing company in history — a lesson in persistence and in not listening to investors.
