Free ML Workshop on the Math Discord Server Covers ML, Deep Learning and Graphs
zeroalephzeta · reddit · 2026-10-13
The (blue) math Discord community is running a completely free machine learning workshop starting October 17, with weekly Saturday lectures and labs (3-5 PM CEST) including hands-on coding with instructor code review.
Curriculum spans three parts:
- Traditional ML: linear models, gradient descent, supervised/unsupervised methods, best practices
- Intro to deep learning: MLPs and backprop, autoencoders, RNNs, CNNs, attention and transformers, signal processing
- Graph ML: feature engineering, shallow node embeddings, knowledge graph embeddings, GNNs, subgraph sampling
Prerequisites are modest: Python with basic OOP, numpy/matplotlib, and Calculus I; linear algebra is optional. Links to self-study resources are provided for each prerequisite.
