AI hype vs reality: industry chatter on X is far bigger than actual adoption
_AustinCalvert_ · x · 2026-10-11
Author @TakoTreba argues there's a huge gap between what the tech industry is excited about and what the rest of the world actually experiences: a new agent, framework, or model drops daily, but adoption outside tech hasn't kept pace.
He makes three points: benchmark wins don't equal real-world impact; the industry is talking to itself—companies launch, founders celebrate, investors amplify, and the conversation is much bigger than actual adoption; the real winners may be companies that make AI invisible, since non-tech users want their taxes done, not agents.
