A rough heuristic for agent-readiness: 'time to fully automated rewrite' (TTR)
HankYeomans · x · 2026-10-09
poteto proposes a thought-experiment heuristic for gauging how well your codebase is set up for agents: TTR—"time to (fully automated, hands-off) rewrite." Imagine rewriting your code in another language/framework/architecture: how long would it take a single engineer? The number itself doesn't matter; the follow-up questions help you directionally make your codebase more legible and productive for agents. Still a half-formed idea, but an interesting direction.
