Lemire: AI clones of Photoshop are the boring part — the real future is entirely new UX
lemire · x · 2026-10-08
Daniel Lemire argues that 'AI cloning' of existing software like Photoshop or Microsoft Teams is 'like using the newly invented radio to broadcast theatre plays' — obvious and boring. He doubts kids will bother learning Photoshop in the future, and believes whatever eats into Adobe's margins won't be an AI clone of its software. While such clones will eventually work well, the real shift is that millions can now experiment and invent entirely new user experiences, embedding photo editing into their own AIs as they like. 'It will get wilder. Far wilder.'
