- Indie developer @yihuiindie shared a story about the harsh paying environment in China: a Xiaohongshu blogger with a decent following—herself an iOS indie developer—forgot to cancel a 3-day free trial and got charged 100+ RMB for a weekly subscription.
- She wrote a long plea for a refund; he refunded her via WeChat red packet.
- He says he wouldn't refund ordinary users in this situation, but the fact that the requester was a developer who fully understood the subscription agreement stung. He suspects she had financial difficulties and posted just to vent.
