ChatGPT Ads charged €84.92 over budget while reported clicks don't match analytics
StoicWhisper · reddit · 2026-10-07
A Reddit user documented their ChatGPT Ads campaign: a $50 daily budget was followed by two hours of zero impressions, then a sudden spike to 7,652 impressions and 64 clicks — plus multiple unexpected card charges totaling €84.92 within minutes, forcing them to cancel the card. Google Analytics, Hotjar and Shopify showed only 24 visitors, all arriving before launch, with no traffic matching the reported clicks. OpenAI's support chatbot couldn't recognize the transactions. The poster asks whether this is a massive technical failure or fraudulent billing/reporting.
