ChatGPT uploads pasted clipboard images before you even hit send, user finds
Innomen · reddit · 2026-10-07
A Reddit user discovered that a stale screenshot left in their clipboard was uploaded by ChatGPT even after they deleted it and never sent the message — the image appeared in the "files and images" folder, meaning ChatGPT grabs pasted images before the user commits to sending.
The user suspects unsent images may end up in OpenAI's training data ("why else give us 20GB of storage") and argues files shouldn't be grabbed until the user confirms sending, calling for more privacy-respecting remote AI products.
