Academic 'superstars' are often better at packaging than at doing the work

Paul Novosad: academic success comes from (1) doing good important work and/or (2) packaging it for maximal success. That's fine when the two correlate, but some "superstars" are clearly far better at 2 than at 1 — the starting point of his thread on GenAI papers.
