Dev argues models are now smart enough to skip GPUI and lay out pixels with raw math
zack_overflow · x · 2026-10-03
Developer zackoverflow argues that current models — good since Opus 4.5 — no longer need UI frameworks like GPUI: his custom graphics/game engine builds UI by computing pixel layouts directly in x/y space. Flexbox and constraint-based layouts became ubiquitous because they let humans describe layout at a higher level, but that constraint no longer matters for models, so why limit them? The post responds to @winglee's claim that GPUI can look better than Electron or Tauri.
