Git doesn't fit parallel agents: worktrees eat disk, so agents will design the alternative
Al_Grigor · x · 2026-10-03
The author argues Git is a poor fit for agents: parallel agents each spawn a worktree—a full copy of the workspace plus dependencies—which quickly eats all free disk space. To find something better, he entered Cloudflare's competition and is letting agents decide what works best for them, giving input once per day. Current goals: broad research, then narrowing to the most important problems. A Day 1 report is out, with daily updates until October 14.
