Dev says his 50-page GPU driver deep-dive was only possible with AI, ignites anti-AI backlash debate

Veteran game developer Sebastian Aaltonen (behind the upcoming PETAFAB) revealed that his 50-page NoGraphicsAPI blog post and SIGGRAPH talk were only possible because AI dug through massive GPU vendor Linux driver codebases to verify hardware-specific binding models and barrier implementations. He also cites AI helping solve Millennium math problems and calls ignoring AI in research foolish.
Reposter mike64t goes further, arguing the backlash against Sebastian proves anti-AI sentiment has become a "reverse-meritocratic revenge cheat code": to the average eye all AI use looks identical, so hating on AI lets low-status individuals attack the competent at no cost — a societal exploit he says needs patching.
