AI researcher Yoav Goldberg flagged an unhealthy dynamic: JEV was released in "limited early access" on September 15, and only two weeks later there are already 29 papers about it on arXiv — many presumably rushed out as ICLR submissions. He called the pace "not healthy," criticizing a paper-mill culture that chases freshly released models instead of doing substantive research.
