Indian banks make $20B a year on low deposit rates — AI agents could end that
srimisra · x · 2026-09-28
Citing @refsrc: Indian banks earn about $20 billion a year — half their profits — by paying customers only 2.5% on $800 billion in savings while the repo rate sits at 5.25%.
@srimisra argues agents won't leave money idle the way humans do: if a better return exists elsewhere, agents will move funds, making deposit rates far more competitive.
