New Yorker Short Film Captures OpenAI Engineer and Friends Debating AI's Future

The New Yorker has released "Josh's Wedding," a documentary short by Brent Katz that Walter Isaacson praised as the most fascinating personal discussion of what AI will do to our future.
The film is based on a real event: in April 2022, a group of high-school friends gathered for a wedding in upstate New York, where OpenAI computer scientist Dan Selsam insisted on showing them code-davinci-002, an early precursor to ChatGPT. The friends were shocked by the poem it produced.
Over the following years, the friends used AI to make art, debated its impact on work and society, and contemplated a "post-human" world — one Dan enthusiastically works toward while the others view with dread — with AI gradually reshaping their lives and relationships.
