match-seq: Viral Proximity Barcoding Enables In Vivo Intercellular CRISPR Screens

Stanford's Bassik and Satpathy labs (led by Peter Du) published match-seq on bioRxiv. Engineered virus-like particles transfer barcoded mRNAs from 'sender' to neighboring 'receiver' cells, reconstructing cellular interactions with sequencing alone, no imaging required. Coupled with CRISPR + scRNA-seq in cancer, it reveals cancer-immune interaction neighborhoods at scale and new cancer genes targetable for tumor rejection via immune cell interactions (doi: 10.64898/2026.09.16.752238).
