Technion postdoc opening funded by ERC grant to treat neural networks as data

Haggai Maron at Technion is hiring a postdoc funded by his new ERC Starting Grant "GDLNeuralArt", focused on learning on weight spaces, internal representations, and gradient spaces — treating trained neural networks themselves as data.
- With millions of checkpoints on Hugging Face plus probeable activations and analyzable gradients, trained networks are becoming a data type of their own.
- The lab's central theme: using symmetry and geometric deep learning to build principled methods that respect structure like neuron permutations and scaling symmetries, and to understand what these models can and can't express.
- Requirements: 5+ first-author papers at top ML venues (NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR or similar), strong math foundations, solid coding; geometric deep learning experience a plus. The hire will join multiple projects and mentor PhD/MSc students.
