WhatsApp head: AI agents threaten to disrupt India's BPO sector and bank lending
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-09-16
WhatsApp's head and CRED founder Kunal Shah argue on the Thrive by Groww podcast that AI agents will displace India's cost-arbitrage outsourcing work: 'outsource will get replaced by agents, by AI, by robots.' Banks and financial services form 30-40% of India's market cap, and IT-BPO-linked lending makes up 30-40% of a bank's book — so even a 10-20% hit to BPO jobs could undermine the safest part of banks' portfolios.
