Voice AI company AssemblyAI launched its Dictation API, billed as the first API built specifically for dictation. In the official demo, a user speaks at a normal pace with a hotkey held down and the text is ready in under 200ms before they look up. The API supports 99 languages and targets developers embedding dictation into products like notetakers and writing tools.
