Scientific Reports retracts paper after AI-slop figures flagged by commenter

A paper in Scientific Reports was retracted today after @addictedtoigno1 flagged it. The unlikely collaboration involved authors from Ethiopia, Chile, India, China, and South Korea, and two of its figures were easily identifiable as AI slop.
When a commenter asked what the figures had to do with paper quality, the thread author took a closer look — and found more issues. Another example of AI-generated content slipping through academic peer review.
