Google uses AI to map the complete fruit fly brain, reconstructing 166,000+ neurons in 3D

Google Research, working with HHMI Janelia Research Campus, has produced the first complete map of an adult male fruit fly's brain and central nervous system. AI combined millions of 2D images into 3D neural shapes, reconstructing a record-breaking 166,000+ neurons. The milestone is expected to accelerate neuroscience research and showcases AI's power in science.
