Google Cloud CEO: TPU servers pay back in ~1 year, half that of GPU servers

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told Goldman Sachs that payback on AI servers is under 2 years — and about half that on Google's own silicon — with most infra contracts being 5-year commitments. The poster estimates Google earns $20B per GW on TPU servers, which cost roughly half of a GPU server.
