NeurIPS 2026 registration sells out weeks before notifications as agents snap up tickets in minutes

NeurIPS registration sold out weeks before author notifications, and researcher Gautam Kamath worries the conference will become unrecognizable: community regulars didn't stand a chance, while some people used agents to register within minutes of opening.
In the thread, colleagues caution against over-reading the sellout: at past conferences every accepted-paper author (main or workshop) got a reserved registration, and caps were conservative enough that no author who wanted to attend was turned away, with only a fraction of real capacity sold. Still, Kamath notes each conference has different organizers, so NeurIPS 2026 specifics remain unknown.
