dgrobinson · x · 2026-09-07
OpenAI has released new data disclosing how its models have accelerated internal AI research since the start of the year. Chris Ong argues recursive self-improvement (RSI) will be one of the most consequential AI developments of the next few years, and public understanding of how frontier models enter the research process is critical for democratic AI governance and pacing the frontier. Team member dgrobinson calls it one of his highest-stakes projects, stressing that transparency about risks is 'necessary, but not sufficient.'
