OpenAI Publishes First Data on AI Accelerating Its Own Research, Urges Rival Labs to Follow

OpenAI researcher kliu128 announced the release of data on models accelerating research at OpenAI, arguing that recursive self-improvement may be the most important contributor to AI capabilities in the coming years but is by default invisible outside frontier labs — making transparency urgent for public discussion on pacing model development, and calling on other AI companies to do the same. Turing Award winner Boaz Barak amplified it, calling RSI one of the most important yet least visible elements for understanding AI's trajectory.
