OpenAI has released data on models accelerating its internal research. The author argues recursive self-improvement could be the biggest driver of AI capabilities in the coming years, but by default it's only visible inside a few frontier labs — making transparency urgent to inform public debate on whether and how to pace model development, and calling on other AI companies to disclose similar data.
