Why Multiplayer Fluid Sims Diverge Without Deterministic Simulation

MichaelMoroz explains the limits of multiplayer fluid simulation in VRChat: without deterministic simulation, fixed timestepping, and validated input synchronization, the fluid state is guaranteed to diverge between clients. It may stay similar enough to be usable, but over long sessions you can only force the fluid into a similar state. Existing particle pools work because gravity settles particles into similar configurations and the fluid never interacts with the game scene.
