Tribute to Honda Asimo: The Legendary Robot That Ran at 9km/h
lukas_m_ziegler · x · 2026-08-12
The author pays tribute to Honda's classic humanoid robot, Asimo. As one of the first humanoid robots to achieve fast running, Asimo reached a top speed of 9 km/h.
Since its inception in 1986, Asimo's core focus has been on understanding and learning human bipedal locomotion. With continuously iterated walk stabilization control and dynamic balance technology, it could not only walk stably on uneven terrain but also perform delicate tasks like carrying trays, pushing carts, and pouring water, complemented by voice and image recognition for natural human-robot interaction.
