Menlo Research has introduced Asimov 1, a fully open-source humanoid robot designed for education and research. Offered as a DIY kit, it is priced at $20,000—approximately $11,000 cheaper than sourcing the parts independently.

- Stands 1.2M tall, weighs 35KG, and features 25+2 degrees of freedom (DoF).
- Requires 100+ hours of build time, aimed at helping engineers and researchers understand locomotion and whole-body control.
- Hardware and appearance are fully customizable, allowing users to test their own AI models and agents on real hardware.
Additionally, the project offers Digital Asimov, a free browser-based simulation that lets users explore the robot's capabilities without needing physical hardware.
