Linus Torvalds: AI Tools Reviewing Linux Kernel Code at Unmatched Human Pace

Linux founder Linus Torvalds noted that the upcoming Linux Kernel 7.2 release is "huge" not because of ambitious new features, but because AI tools are surfacing code fixes faster than human contributors can match.
Torvalds has a complicated relationship with AI. While acknowledging it as the "new normal" for bug fixes, he previously complained that AI-generated reports made the security mailing list "almost entirely unmanageable" due to duplicates and low quality. However, he clarified that Linux is not an "anti-AI" project.
