Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch caught a top AI model cargo-culting its own code, including adding a bizarre 700ms delay. He warns that developers who don't read the code their AI writes are either prototyping, building throwaway software, or quietly stacking up risk. Full autonomy in AI coding isn't here yet, and human oversight remains critical.
