The Autonomous Labs robotics team announced that their Autonomous OS is now running on Hugging Face's Reachy robot. Designed as an open-source operating system for physical AI agents, it can be deployed on any edge device with cameras, microphones, and motors, giving AI agents the ability to see, hear, speak, and move.

Using a local-first architecture, its brain supports swappable agentic runtimes like OpenAI Codex or Claude Code, while the OS handles the physical body, skills, and safety bounds. The team previously released reference devices Lamp and Intern, and encourages the community to build more robots using the OS.
