Anthropic Forms Joint Venture Theseus to Shift Datacenter Risk
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-08-10
Anthropic is shifting data center construction risk to infrastructure investors by partnering with Macquarie Asset Management and GIC to establish Theseus Infrastructure.
Under the structure, Macquarie and GIC will own the platform and fund the majority of the equity for each project, with Anthropic serving as the anchor tenant. This moves the financing problem of absorbing equity for years before earning revenue to specialized investors, allowing Anthropic to pay through rent rather than capital expenditure.
