Turso Rewrites Postgres in Rust to Build the LLVM of Databases
JeremyCMorgan · x · 2026-08-07
Turso announced it is writing a modern, from-scratch version of Postgres in Rust, following its previous rewrite of SQLite.
The core vision is to build the "LLVM of databases": using a single modern core to support multiple database frontends compiled down to a unified bytecode VM. An experimental Postgres dialect and wire protocol are already available in the repo.
