OpenAI, AWS, Cursor and GitHub Introduce Open Agent Plugins Standard
gabrielchua · x · 2026-08-07
OpenAI has partnered with AWS, Cursor, GitHub, and Vercel to introduce the Agent Plugins open standard. This specification allows developers to build a plugin once and run it across compatible AI agent clients.
The standard packages Agent Skills and supports MCP server configurations in a shared format, significantly improving plugin portability across different platforms. A canonical GitHub example and migration guide have also been released to help developers transition existing plugins.
