Japanese Hospitals Pilot Unitree G1 and Other Humanoids to Assist Medical Staff

University of Tsukuba Hospital, Omakase Robotics, and Aichi Prefecture organizations are piloting China’s Unitree G1 (with Omakase OS) and Japan’s Kawasaki Nyokkey humanoid robots. These robots are deployed for smart patient guidance in lobbies, nighttime patrols with fall detection, and transporting documents and medical specimens. The initiative aims to mitigate staff shortages and high turnover, allowing nurses to focus more on patient care. Separately, Omakase Robotics launched the D1, a compact humanoid designed for Japanese indoor settings.
