University of Manchester Develops MIRRAX-150 Robot Snake for Nuclear Station Exploration

Researchers at the University of Manchester have developed a robot snake named MIRRAX-150. The device features Mecanum wheels, a reconfigurable shape, and is equipped with a camera set and LiDAR technology.

Utilizing low-cost 3D printed components, the robot is designed to perform inspections, explore environments, and map 3D point clouds. It is slated to be deployed soon at the Sellafield nuclear power station for real-world operations.
