Cloudflare Launches Programmable Wallets to Enable AI Agent Payments
kleffew94 · x · 2026-08-04
Cloudflare has announced Cloudflare Wallets, designed to provide AI agents with native, programmable payment capabilities. Currently, AI agents often struggle with human-designed login flows when trying to access new APIs, lacking stable identifiers and native payment methods.
Leveraging the x402 protocol, Cloudflare Wallets allows agents to attach micropayments in stablecoins directly to HTTP requests to pay for API inference, data, or content. Combined with the Monetization Gateway released earlier this month, Cloudflare is building a comprehensive buyer and seller infrastructure. This enables agents to autonomously discover, trial, and transact with services, paving the way for the agentic economy.
