Andrew Ng announced OpenWorker, an open-source agent that goes beyond chat and returns finished work — for example a polished document, a Slack message, or a calendar update.
- It can prepare customer briefs, untangle calendars, draft reports, and triage Slack alerts.
- It works across your files and everyday tools, and checks in before doing anything consequential.
- It runs on Mac now, with Windows support coming soon.
- It is model-independent: bring your own API key and use GPT-5.6 Sol, Claude Fable, Gemini 3.6, open-weight models such as Kimi/GLM/DeepSeek/Inkling, or Ollama for local data.
- The team says the goal is an open, privacy-preserving “AI coworker” option that keeps data on your machine except where you choose to send it.
- Source code and a try-it link are available.
