MIT joins 15 DOE Genesis Mission projects on AI for science, fusion, and quantum sensing

- MIT researchers will join 15 collaborative projects selected for funding under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission Phase I.
- Genesis Mission aims to build “the world’s most powerful integrated science discovery platform” by combining AI, supercomputing, quantum systems, and advanced scientific instruments.
- MIT is involved in projects spanning rare-earth separation, fracture modeling, quantum sensing, biomolecular self-assembly, fusion, digital twins, rotating blade design, and lab automation.
- The DOE says teams in Phase I must demonstrate research workflows that integrate AI with scientific investigation and rigorously evaluate scientific merit.
