The Neolab List hits 106 labs: mapping compute-hungry, pre-revenue AI startups
deedydas · x · 2026-10-27
Deedy Das's "Ultimate Neolab List" now tracks 106 AI labs defined as elite-researcher startups that burn heavy compute (usually training their own models), lack significant revenue, and raised at $250M+ valuations. Chip, inference and robotics hardware companies are excluded, as are Anthropic, OpenAI and SpaceX AI.
Notable entries: SoftBank-backed robotics company Roze ($100B, flagged not a neolab), Discovery Loop ($598M), Thinking Machines ($458M), Project Prometheus ($418M), Isomorphic Labs ($408M), SSI ($3.2B) and Reflection AI ($27.5B). Labs are categorized by space (frontier lab, robotics, world models, bio, science) and tagged Clean/Mostly/Borderline, with new valuations, acquisitions and merger talks marked.
