Netflix has acquired InterPositive, an AI startup founded in 2022, for $587 million in cash.
- The company reportedly has 16 employees.
- Its technology builds a film-specific AI model from raw footage.
- Netflix says the system helps with editing tasks such as lighting fixes, wire removal, background replacement and color matching while preserving the original style.
- The tool has already been used on about 300 Netflix titles this year, and in one documentary it cut production time in half.
- Ben Affleck is joining Netflix as a senior adviser, and the entire team is moving over.
