Cloud release velocity scores: AWS 95, Azure 90, Google Cloud 82

Enterprise cloud expert David Linthicum argues release velocity is one of the better indicators of where hyperscalers are headed, offering rough scores: AWS 95/100, Azure 90, Google Cloud 82.
- AWS leads in raw release machinery across compute, storage, networking, databases, security, observability and AI.
- Azure is close behind, and may feel fastest in enterprise-facing AI, identity, hybrid cloud, data and developer platforms.
- Google Cloud scores slightly lower due to a narrower footprint, but moves quickly in AI, analytics, Kubernetes, serverless and data infrastructure.
Velocity isn't just shiny services — much of it reflects fixes for quality issues, security gaps, compliance needs and customer-driven upgrades. Enterprises should evaluate providers by how fast they improve, not just where they stand today, while acknowledging that more change demands more governance, testing and cost discipline.
