Codex Desktop Remains Unstable on WSL
zeeg · x · 2026-07-20
This post vents frustration that the Codex desktop app remains essentially "unusable" in a Windows + WSL environment.
A screenshot of the dialogue shows Codex struggling to determine if the current environment is inside a Git working tree / worktree, checking the shell path, switching to standard Bash, and re-checking the minimal shell path. However, the runner lacks the shell binary and has flawed process launch configurations, ultimately falling back to reading the state of an already opened terminal.
