In a recent article, Demis Hassabis makes a clear prediction: AGI could arrive within the next few years, and humanity is standing at the foothills of the singularity.
He views AGI as a general-purpose technology that will transform society much like electricity or fire, potentially impacting the world 10 times faster than the Industrial Revolution. He also notes:
