By leveraging its concept hierarchy to trace prediction paths, COMPASS identified specific resistance mechanisms in non-responders with an immune-inflammatory phenotype, such as TGFβ-driven immunosuppression, vascular exclusion, and CD4+ T cell and B cell deficiencies. This resolves clinical cases incorrectly predicted as responders by phenotype classification alone, demonstrating the potential value of explainable AI in precision oncology.
