Researcher Owain Evans urges anyone considering AI-risk work to switch now: AI progress is fast and many human tasks are being automated quickly. The AI safety field is small and moving so fast that many new areas have no experts yet, so newcomers can have impact quickly. He cites excellent pay, strong colleagues, remote-friendly roles, and openings across technical, policy, and communication work. He stresses it's not a pitch for his own org and recommends 80,000 Hours as a starting point.
